The vaping industry is saturated with copycat products and mediocre brands. Botatech’s technology and expertise immediately created differentiation between itself and competitors.
art direction, brand audit + strategy, copywriting, tagline, web design
Botatech works directly with oil producers to manufacture vaping devices for consumer use. While many competitors focus exclusively on refillable cartridges, Botatech specializes in disposable pens that ensure the highest bioavailability from all natural ingredients.
Each Botatech pen provides 200-400 inhalations, and it is powered through a battery that is only operational when the pen is inhaled. This conserves power and maximizes the value of every inhalation. Natural ingredients can be mixed together with the oil, which improves viscosity and gives flavour to the product. Clearly, Botatech occupies a unique place in the market, and they needed a brand identity and website to expand their reach.
While the logo was already developed prior to our involvement, the brand still required typefaces and a tagline that would round out the aesthetic. The Botatech brand needed to strike a balance between modern and professional. Based on the existing logo and wordmark, it was necessary to choose typefaces that were complementary. Neuzeit Grotesque for the body text provided an accessible modern aesthetic. The header typeface — Geogrotesque — has a bold personality, avoiding a sterile and rigid pharma-feel. For the subhead typeface, the Adobe Caslon Pro addedcharacter while retaining a degree of professionalism. It was also a contrast to the Sans-serif header and body typefaces.
Botatech provides growers with robust manufacturing solutions. Growers, for their part, are the experts at what they do; they know the ins-and-outs, the nuances, the intricacies of their market. In short, they know growing. However, a larger market emerges as business models adapt to changing times. Botatech’s technology and support allows growers to expand beyond traditional confines.
Your market is growing
We wanted to create a mood that bridged corporate with community; technique and detail would meet versatility and humanity. We enlisted Mackenzie Walker, a stellar photographer who understood the mood and the needs of the brand, in order to appropriately strike this balance and create assets for future use.
The product shots were ripe with detail and created a harmonized feeling when combined with the website copy and structure. Throughout the website’s multi-page structure, Botatech’s high degree of professionalism and know-how were on full-display. The copy focused on key value props and appropriately conveyed Botatech’s consumer-focused approach.
The full brand identity also translated well to the business cards, capturing the technical and informative bend of the company.
