The law industry is ripe with hyper-professionalism and sterile design. Kitsilano Family Law had its sights set on a sleek, family-friendly brand that conveyed its collaborative approach to law.

Family law clients deserve an experience that is neighbourly, understanding and professional. By highlighting their personable and collegial nature, Kitsilano Family Law could appeal to potential clients in need of empathy and support during difficult times. Their goal was to have a brand identity and website that would occupy a unique spot in the market. For the logo, we decided on an accessible yet professional wordmark. However, it needed to be combined with a colour palette that was friendly and communal. Together with the Burnt Sienna and Flesh, the wordmark immediately created a strong sense of renewal and positivity.
Much like the logo, there was a desire for balance with the typefaces. Macho was selected for headers because of its bold and character-ripe features, which complemented the Calibre Light as the body font, a geometric neo-grotesque that exuded rationality.
Trying times create adverse responses. The past can cripple people into submission, the minds of clients constantly focusing on what was and could’ve been — instead of what is and what could be. Kitsilano Family Law provides solutions to clients that remove them from the shackles of the past, and get them to start thinking about the beauty of life and their next steps.
The prerogative of the website was to provide a sufficient amount of information that would prompt potential clients to schedule a meeting. The multi-page website navigates the reader to relevant sections and provides ample opportunities to reach out. The art-direction and overall photography style help cultivate the undercurrent of professionalism, which is aided by the minimalist aesthetic that permeates throughout the website. The blog, titled The Brief, lets Kitsilano Family Law provide analysis on relevant matters concerning its field, making it a leader in family law.
Collateral was produced, including business cards and revised client-intake forms, that created a unified brand across both digital and physical media.
Kitsilano Family Law provides invaluable support to people who need it most. With a new brand identity and website, Kitsilano Family Law can continue to focus on tomorrow’s possibilities.
